Short Shifter:
Step 5: Loosen the bolt on the shift linkage, it’s above the lockout cable and lower rod. You will need two 12 mm wrenches to loosen it.
Step 5b: This is the tricky part. When you go to remove the bolt from the linkage it is too long to come out. After about an hour I decided to look it up in the manual. This is what I found: “Move the transmission to the right side, and then remove the joint COMPL stay bolt. NOTE: If the transmission is not moved the joint COMPL and stay bolt will contact the body and may cause damage.”
So, you will now need to remove the front cross member and push the transmission to the right (passenger) side. This is the most difficult part of the install. I switched out the bottle jack for one with wheels so that it would move with the transmission. I then removed the front cross member, and moved the tyranny about two inches to get the bolt out. It takes a good amount of force, so be prepared.
Step 6: Now you are ready to go inside the car, and complete the removal. You will need to remove shift knob and the trim around the shifter. This is done by pulling up on the sides of the boot. Next there are 4 Phillips screws that need to come out to remove the rest of the console. You will need to unplug the Cig lighter, and the DCCD controls before you can take these pieces out.
Step 7: Now remove the 4 10mm bolts on the metal bracket around the base shifter. Push the shifter to the front of the car and remove it through the hole.
