6.) Now once you’ve found it. Look under the bracket and you will see a adjustment bolt that can be loosened that’s right below the belt. Now loosen it, but don’t take it out.

7.) Go back towards the top of the tensioner assembly and start loosening the top bolt. This will take the tension off the belt. You’re going to have to go quite some ways. After it is loose enough you’ll be able to slide the belt off the pulley. The alternator might have to be pushed down to get it to move all the way down.

8.) Take a look at the top of the alternator towards the back and look for the red rubber boot. Pull the boost out of the way and remove the 10mm nut that sits under it. Make sure not to lose the nut and washer. To the left there is a green clip that snaps into the alternator. Remove the green clip.

9.) Remove the driver side bolt and the bottom bolt on the belt tensioner from the from previously. Be careful of the driver side bolt since there is a clip on the back side that will fall out and get lost if you don’t have your hands on it.

10.) Lift the alternator out of the car. It might be difficult to get out so have a prybar and a hammer ready to break it free.

11.) Compare the old and new alternators to make sure they are the same.

12.) Drop in the new alternator. It might have to be pried on a little bit or tap it with a rubber mallet to get the driver side bolt to line up.

13.) Put it back together by reversing the above steps.
