Stainless Steel Brake Lines install 02-07 WRX/STi:

.) After the stainless steel brake lines are on install the clip back on the holding bracket and torque the banjo bolt down to 13/ft lbs. Clean the area with brake fluid cleaner. To be sure the line had good clearance unlocked the steering wheel and rotate the rotor left and right.

.) The rear is similar to the front. The exception is the line is attached to the strut with a clip and not a nut and bracket. You might have to bend the strut clip slightly to hold the new line to the strut. If you have to use a vice to ever so slightly bend the clip in. The clip was might be to close for comfort w/o bending it.

.) After all the are on the next step is to bleed the brakes and verify there are no leaks. Spray all connections down with brake fluid cleaner and press down on the brakes hard a few times after you’be bled the system. Check for leaks.

.) After the wheels are on and the car lowered get under there and make sure the lines have a good amount of clearance. Keep in mind the wheels are going to move up and down and the fronts left and right. Bleed the brakes again in a few days to be sure all the air is out of the system.

.) Make sure to use good high quality brake fluid whenever you are installing new brake or new stainless steel brake lines.

.)This is extremely important if you want to go to a track day or even autocross your Subaru WRX or STi. It’s never fun on a track day have to push your brake pedal to the floor and not being able to slow down.

.) Inspect your stainless steel brake lines at least yearly for any cuts or tears. This also goes for brake fluid in that you need to watch for contamination and for the fluid getting darker.  Whenever I go to a track day or autocross I will inspect my stainless steel brake lines the night before or before my first session of the day.
